ACORD Rebrands AUGIE; Doubles Down on Digital Advocacy

In a move to recognize its participants and to reflect an expanded mission, the ACORD User Groups Information Exchange has been rebranded as the Associations and User Groups Information Exchange and will continue to be known as “AUGIE.”

The rebrand is a nod to all the partnerships advancing the digitization of the independent agent and broker distribution channel. Originally organized in 1999 as a partnership with ACORD to provide dialogue among the system vendor user groups, AUGIE now includes trade associations and other organizations eager to advance the agent/broker channel. 

AUGIE was key in the successful ACORD Download Campaign during the 1990s, followed by the Real Time Campaign to encourage the uptake of advanced digital tools by agents and carriers. AUGIE also was an organizer of the new technology Insurance Digital Revolution (IDR) campaign, with a vision for providing an all-inclusive hub to resources for agents and brokers.

The rebranded AUGIE is governed by its leaders and will reinforce its role as the agent/broker-led group of organizations focused on the distribution channel. ACORD will continue to assist AUGIE on activities related to the implementation of its standards. 

Keith Savino, managing partner of Warwick, N.Y.-based Warwick Resource Group and immediate past chair of the board of directors of the Network of Vertafore Users (NetVU), says, “We need to exploit our success over the past two decades to not only assist agents and brokers today, but to prepare them for tomorrow. And the more we collaborate with other agent/broker groups across the industry, the better.”

Ed Higgins, vice president of Clayton, N.Y.-based Thousand Islands Agency and immediate past chair of the Applied Client Network (Applied’s user group), agreed that the updated mission takes AUGIE to the next level. “It’s not only about standard data messaging with markets, it’s also about agents and brokers becoming digital businesses in their own right,” he said.

ACORD president and CEO Bill Pieroni says, “We are so proud of what AUGIE has accomplished with us over the past 17 years. Digital advocacy complements the ACORD Standards and these changes enable them to expand their reach exponentially.” 

A new website and social media plans now are in development. The group will convene at the ACORD2016 conference in Boca Raton, Fla., on November 1 to showcase projects in progress and plans for AUGIE’s future.
