Fifth SMA Summit Demonstrates Insurer Progress

Strategy Meets Action has released a new research report: 2016 SMA Summit Recap Report. This report provides highlights of all the speakers from the SMA Summit event held in Boston on Sept. 19.

"Our fifth annual Summit event demonstrated how far the insurance industry has come during the last five years," says Deb Smallwood, SMA founder and author of the report. "The wide variety of stories and case studies featured new business models, innovative products, the leveraging of emerging technologies, and revolutionary customer experiences. These leaders, representing different lines of business and different size companies, are progressing toward the goal of becoming Next-Gen Insurers."

The report highlights the winning submissions for the SMA Innovation in Action Awards for both insurers and solution providers, key insights from the InsurTech world, successful innovation culture transformations, the foundational and expanding role of core systems, and the bridges insurers must build to a successful future.

“The innovation and creative initiatives of insurers discussed at the Summit are truly astounding,” says Smallwood. “Stories included partnering outside insurance with grocery store chains, veterinarians, fitness centers, and others. Emerging technologies such as virtual reality applications, gamification, drones, and the Internet of Things were prominent in new initiatives. New value-for-use insurance models are appearing alongside traditional value-for-exchange models."

The report contains a synopsis of the sessions for all of the 20-plus speakers that participated in the event.
