Hersh Leaves Novarica for Nolan; Meanwhile, Nolan, Novarica Form Alliance

The Nolan Company, a management consulting firm that specializes in process and operational effectiveness for insurance carriers, announces that Chad Hersh has joined the firm as senior vice president of its insurance practice.  Hersh comes to Nolan from Novarica, a research and advisory firm focused on insurance market, operations, and technology strategy. 

In another move, Nolan and Novarica announced the formation of an alliance to provide enhanced offerings to clients from both firms.  Hersh will manage the alliance for Nolan.

“I’m pleased to continue collaborating with Novarica as our organizations work to deliver even greater value to the industry,” says Hersh. 

“We have complementary services,” says Rod Travers, executive vice president of Nolan, about working with Novarica. “We’re not in their business with the research and analysis function, but many of our clients use their services. We look at this as an opportunity to bring higher value to our clients, individually and jointly. It’s a good coupling.”

Matt Josefowicz, managing director of Novarica, brought Hersh with him when he left Celent in 2008. While he will miss working with Hersh on a daily basis, Josefowicz acknowledges the alliance “is a nice way for everyone to stay in the extended family.”

Nolan and Novarica already share several clients and both firms are already working together on a joint project for an insurance carrier.

The loss of Hersh won’t affect Novarica’s research work. Novarica has one of the largest senior advisory teams in the industry, according to Josefowicz

Hersh has more than 15 years of insurance industry experience. “In my new role at Nolan, I will be ideally positioned to help carriers achieve the business value they are counting on when upgrading or replacing their core systems,” said Hersh. “I will assist clients with business transformation, change enablement, process redesign, and other areas that carriers often underinvest in when taking on system improvement projects.”  

“Chad’s technology background is ideal for his role at Nolan,” said Steve Discher, executive vice president of Nolan.  “Many strategic and operational improvement efforts start—or end—with a large technology initiative. Understanding the CIO's point of view, as well as those of their C- Level counterparts, is a critical part of our business, and Chad's work with CIOs and core technology upgrades over the past decade has given him great insight into both."
