PEOPLE Magazine Names Nationwide to 2019 Top 50 Companies that Care list

PEOPLE magazine has named Nationwide to its 2019 Top 50 Companies that Care list. The magazine published the annual list with Nationwide ranking 34th. Companies like, Workday and Intuit also made the list.

“Our caring culture is a differentiator in the marketplace,” said Nationwide Chief Executive Officer Steve Rasmussen. “We don’t just say we care, we show it. We value our people, our partners and our members above all else.”

PEOPLE noted that Nationwide “offers maternity concierge services for new parents, including nurses who give much-needed guidance.” It also highlighted that associates “are rewarded for giving back, with paid days off for volunteering 25 hours or more.”

CEO-Elect Kirt Walker added, “It is in our DNA to put people first in all we do by creating a culture that emphasizes diversity & inclusion, personal development, work-life balance and giving back to the community.”

Associate Volunteer Efforts
Nationwide associates come together to make a real difference. The company combines philanthropy, workplace giving and volunteerism to make a powerful impact in the community. It also focuses efforts on important priorities like emergencies, basic needs and crisis stabilization.

Nationwide associates are involved in everything from food banks to furniture banks, as well as giving blood and mentoring kids, to name a few. The Nationwide Foundation supports four national partners and hundreds of other nonprofits across the country through funding, including grants total $110 million to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, over the past 13 years.
“Nationwide doesn't want us to spend our life at work,” according to one associate PEOPLE quoted. “They encourage us to maintain a balance: family, work and giving back to the community.”
Comprehensive Benefits
Nationwide offers comprehensive benefits to ensure that associates who join the company have what they need to grow, thrive and drive business success. This includes competitive compensation and benefits at all levels including a market-leading $17 per-hour minimum wage across the company, a 401(k) company match of 50% on the first 8% of personal contributions and a pension plan.

The company also offers robust development opportunities, flextime and educational assistance, all making Nationwide an attractive career destination for the best talent. For example, through Nationwide’s Maternity Assistance Program, associates are assigned a professional nurse who can provide guidance through each trimester of pregnancy as well as post-pregnancy support.

Consistent recognition as a great workplace
Nationwide consistently ranks on top workplace award lists.
