Western National Chooses Valen to Bolster Underwriting Insights

Staff Writer | April 07, 2015

Valen Analytics announces a new customer engagement with Western National Insurance Group, a private mutual insurer with over 100 years of experience in the property & casualty insurance industry. By employing the Predict function of Valen’s InsureRight Platform, Western National will gain additional insights into the risks associated with workers’ compensation policies.

“The analytics platform from Valen will be a valuable tool to supplement our group’s individual-risk-underwriting efforts,” says Justin Morgan, director of analytics at Western National. “We look forward to utilizing InsureRight to bring the best possible product to our existing underwriting process, for the continued benefit of our policyholders and agency partners.”

The InsureRight Platform is powered by Valen’s contributory database, which is specifically built for predictive analytics. The Predict feature of the InsureRight Platform allows Western National’s team of underwriters to utilize predictive scoring for added visibility into each risk.

“Analytics are an extension of the underwriter toolkit, intended to complement the expertise of tenured underwriters,” says Dax Craig, CEO and president of Valen Analytics. “These new tools will expand underwriters’ knowledge about risks in general, as well as boost their understanding of key factors associated with specific risk types.”
