Features and Viewpoints

Economical Insurance doesn't see their brokers as just salespeople; they see them as their business partners. And the ability to retain, service and grow their partners became a priority. In this article (featured in the January issue of ITA Pro magazine), EVP Paul MacDonald explains how the company leveraged technology to innovate and dramatically improve the entire broker experience.

Like many insurers today, Mountain West Farm Bureau had to contend with a large array of legacy systems supporting its day-to-day operations. It was part of an aging IT infrastructure that hindered its ability to grow and service its customers. With limited resources and budgets, CIO Marcus Curley realized he needed some outside assistance to help modernize and support the IT environment. He chose Green House Data, a managed services provider, to help drive that modernization and serve as an extension of his IT team.

Let's face it - insurance is not the dream job on the minds of most young people who are graduating from high school or college today. But while the insurance industry continues to face an image challenge, the fact is that insurance careers span an incredible range of skills and talents—from actuaries and underwriters to data scientists and risk management professionals to solution architects and engineers. Insurance is a major underpinning of our global economy.
