Art and science in underwriting are merging. It is important for underwriting organizations to embrace this change because of the evolution of risk, the demand for personalized products, and the need to reduce complexity.

Change is not easy. However, tools exist that, when combined with emerging data and operational data, can facilitate an accurate and granular understanding of exposures -- and in less than 5-10 years. 

Karen Pauli, analyst with SMA, believes what was once impossible to do is now do-able. The “because we can” attitude puts a new element of creativity and collaboration into underwriting which means that change can be fun and profitable!
