We're all thumbs!

Thumbs up, that is, for
ITA LIVE 2019!

The ITA LIVE 2019 conference may now be history, but participants are telling us that the sessions were illuminating, the speakers were exemplary and the networking was top-notch. And the Marriott hotel and sunny Florida location weren't too bad either...:)

Whether you were able to attend the event or not, we'll have a full recap of the conference shortly. In the meantime, here are some highlights from this fabulous event.

Berkley One wins the ITA Bridge Award!

We are pleased to announce that Berkley One is the recipient of the 2019 ITA Bridge Award. This special award, given annually, recognizes insurance carriers that have bridged the gap between IT and the business side of the organization. Susan Vella, SVP of Customer Experience, and Craig Lowenthal, VP of Information Technology, were on hand to receive the award on behalf of Berkley One.

"A big thank you to the ITA membership for selecting us as the 2019 Bridge Award Winner!" said Craig Lowenthal. "Susan Vella and I are so humbled by the recognition. It truly is a total team effort and everyone on the IT Team and all Berkley One employees all made this happen! I couldn’t be more proud of my team and our company!"

Susan was just as excited about the recognition -- and the conference. "This was my first ITA LIVE event and I found it very informative—and I got an award!  The diversity of the attendees made the panels, roundtables and networking discussions robust and thought provoking."

Martha Notaras puts the conference in high-gear --
right from the start.

Martha Notaras, partner with XL Innovate, launched the event on Sunday evening with terrific insight and keen perception (sprinkled with a bit of humor) of the insurtech landscape.

"There is soooo much to improve in insurance, just start anywhere," she quipped during her opening. She added that initial insurtech pitches like "insurance sucks" may not have resonated well in the industry, "but as this group begins to mature, insurtechs are starting to lead and tantalize the incumbents."

"The Most Interesting Man in Insurance"

The event's final keynote speaker was Rob Galbraith, 20-year financial services professional and author of " The End of Insurance as We Know It."  Rob shared his vision along with a number of thought-provoking observations about insurtech and industry transformation."

"The youngest insurance carrier among the top 10 companies was founded way back in 1937," says Rob. "Incumbents have unusual staying power. But remember this, at one time, the top 10 were all start-ups too."

Rob agreed that the insurance industry needs to change. "Our mindset is linear, but needs to be exponential."
